Well, I just uploaded the latest update to NoteScribe, version 1.32. I added
neat little Highlighter feature in the "Edit Note" window. It's similar to the
one in Word and other text editing programs. Not a big feature I know, but a
neat little one that could come in handy from time to time.

I also made some minor aesthetic changes and I added a "ImportNotes" button to the
main tool bar. Download NoteScribe
Update

I want to also take a moment to make the official announcement for NoteScribe
Professional. It's something we have been planning for some time now,
but I have just recently begun work on it. Here are just some of the cool features
we are planning for it:

Task/Assignment Manager

A calendar, similar to Outlook and Google Calendar, that you can keep track of events,
assignments, or whatever!

It will also feature an email reminder service that will allow you to setup an email
to be sent out a chosen day as a reminder.

Multiple Category Sets

You will now be able to put a note into multiple sets of categories, where each set
will have 1-4 levels. For example, for one note you could have:

The 1st Category Set be:

L1 - Biology

L2 - Human Anatomy

L3 - Brain

The 2nd Category Set, for the same note, could then be:

L1 - Psychology

L2 - The Brain

L3 - Parts of the Brain

Now, you can get to this note by either clicking on the "Biology->Human Anatomy->Brain"
category branch, OR by clicking on the "Psychology->The Brain->Parts of the
Brain" category branch.

We are still developing this feature and are unsure of exactly how many Category Sets
there will be.

This feature will make NoteScribe much more flexible and allow you to utilize even
more creativity in the organization of your notes!

Multiple Sources

Similar to the multiple Category Sets, we are now going to give you the flexibility
to attach multiple sources to a single note.

In personal experience from using NoteScribe I have come across times where the information
in one note came from a couple of different sources. Now, instead of having
to break the note up, Pro will allow me to attach all the sources of the information
to the note!

As with the Category Sets, we are still developing the Multiple Sources feature, and
we haven't decided how many sources you will be able of tying to a note. The
decision basically comes from what would be the most practical in terms of displaying
the multiple sources. If too many sources are attached, it becomes quite hard
to display them in a way that they can still be easily seen.

That's just few of the definite features coming in NoteScribe Pro, check back to blog
often as I will be trying to post regular updates on its progress.

We have still not yet determined a price for NoteScribe Pro, but I can guarantee that
we will stay true to our roots and make it as affordable as we can, we've always believed
what good is a program if it's too expensive for someone to use! We also want
the choice between NoteScribe and NoteScribe Pro will be less about price and more
about what features are best for you.

To all those out there using NoteScribe, we deeply appreciate your support and we
hope that NoteScribe has truly helped simplify and organize your life in some way!

Thanks again,

During the early stages of NoteScribe's development I was working closely with a large
number of fellow students on improving the program by having them actually use different
versions of it and provide me with feedback on what they liked and disliked.
That process is easily what led NoteScribe to be the great program that I am so proud
of today, and because I believe that process to be a never-ending one, I truly hope
to continue it with all of NoteScribe's users here on this blog.

If you have any suggestions on how you think NoteScribe can be improved,
please take a moment to add a comment here. Some of the best ideas have came
from the users themselves, so I truly look forward to hearing your thoughts!

<?xml:namespace prefix = o ns = "urn:schemas-microsoft-com:office:office" />Hi,
my name is Jeff Sholl, I'm the lead developer here at Higher Symmetry Software and
the creator of NoteScribe. This is my first post here on our new blog, and the
first thing I would like to know about is how our users are using the program to help
them.

To
me, NoteScribe represents a large part of myself and a great deal of thought and hard
work. I created NoteScribe while I was preparing to write my masters thesis,
which by the way, I never actually finished because I became so involved with developing
and improving the program! At the time, NoteScribe essentially became my thesis,
and now it has evolved into so much more for me. So, needless to say, it means
a great deal to me when I hear how the program has actually helped someone.

When
NoteScribe was in its infancy it was just a small application that I and a few fellow
students were using to better organize our academic lives. At the time the program
was being passed around lot, and as the number of those students using the program
grew so did the program due to all the suggestions they would offer me on
how it should be improved. This was the beginning of what would become
NoteScribe (and the eventual end of my thesis and academic career!). During
that time, I had the opportunity to actually see how the program was improving the
lives the students using it. One of the unfortunate side effects of the decision
to release NoteScribe was that I got bogged down in its final development as
well as the business side of things. This made me increasingly more disconnected
from those using the program. I hope to change that with this blog.
>

So,
I send this call to our users, please take a moment to let us know how NoteScribe
has helped you. It would mean a great deal to me and to all the others
who have put their time and efforts into making NoteScribe the program it is today.

Thanks,

Jeff
Lead
Developer
